Trail Manager
Overview
Velo MSM is looking for an autonomous Trail Manager to be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and safety of the Velo MSM trail network.
Located 1 hour north east of the Canada’s Capital, in Lac Sainte Marie, Quebec, Velo MSM is home to 46 KM of trails, descending from and located around one of the Outaouais regions highest peaks (556m elevation, 406m vertical).
Our Trails can best be described by the slogan ‘Long live long trails’ given the network’s approach to build long, uninterrupted trails that provide a backcountry feel. Trails cover the range from the soft and flowy beginner XC trails of Angels Bench and Lake Loop Sectors, to the jump lines of the Wu-Tang Zone, to the massive slabs of and flow trails of the Mountain Sector.
The quiet sandy beach and clear water of Lac Fournier sits directly at the base of the network, prime for an aprés swim.
Duration:
- Mid April to Mid October (Flexible based on Candidate)
Hours of Work:
- 8 hours/day, Monday to Friday (with hour swaps for volunteer events or disaster clean-up).
Compensation:
- Based on experience, possibility of allowance for accommodation.
Job Description and Tasks
The Trail Manager is responsible for maintenance, upkeep and safety of the Velo MSM trail network.
They are responsible for establishing work plans, obtaining approval from the Velo MSM Committee Contact and then carrying out the work, while reporting back weekly and communicating information as required. This includes Season Opening, Maintenance In Season and End of Season Closing
They may also be tasked with design and development of new trails and reroutes.
They may be responsible for:
- supervising and directing junior trail builders
- organizing, supervising and directing after hours or weekend trail days for volunteers
- supervising, directing and reporting back on the work of contractors.
