MOUNTAIN FEST 2017

Thanks for attending the greatest Mountain Fest yet!

About

Come to Mountain Fest 2017

Mountain Fest has become one of the premiere East Coast mountain bike events.  Run by the not-for-profit Velo MSM trail crew, with assistance from Mont Ste Marie management, this fundraiser has enabled the trail organization to continue the expansion and maintenance of the trail system.

This season the volunteers hope to facilitate the creation of 3 new trails, with the goal of having all of them ride-able by Mountain Fest. The unique blend of events, for riders and non-riders has created an awesome experience for the whole family.

Mountain Fest tickets are your gift that keeps on giving!

Many of the development grants that Velo MSM applies for are ‘matching’ grants. Essentially, this means that in order to receive the grant money, we need to demonstrate that we have the ability to match the grant’s contribution dollar for dollar. One of the key reasons why the festival exists (besides the fact that mountain biking is fun and the MTB community is awesome) is as a means to generate the revenue that can be used for matching grants to build more trails.

Three days of epic biking, fun and challenging races, an industry expo including bike demos, music, and lots of activities for the whole family.

Marin Mountain Fest Enduro

Sponsored by: Marin Bikes

Saturday Afternoon will feature a fun 3 stage enduro race, on intermediate terrain.

This will be an excellent opportunity to try out the event that everyone is talking about.

This is our third year running this event, and it is a highlight of the weekend.

Kids Events

The children’s race will surely delight with two exciting race events for the young racers in your family. For the young kids, a mini-race will see them complete several loops on a small closed course surrounded by cheering spectators, followed by a more challenging race for the older kids and teens, competing for Mountain Fest glory.

Kids will have a blast testing their mountain biking skills on the obstacle course, earning points for each bridge, skinny and roller ramp that they successfully navigate.

Older children can sign up for our -no drop- group rides led by experienced riders who will lead participants through the easier trails while offering guidance, encouragement and support.

Mountain Spirit Events

We continue to strive to bring entertainment and events for the whole family, this includes riders and non-riders alike.

Mountain Spirit Events – great names in fitness – Lululemon, Salomon, Greco and Real Edge Fitness – are heading up our Mountain Spirit events this year! Trail running, yoga, and boot-camp events are the non-biking physical events we have so far… and are included in all Mountain Spirit (non-bike) passes or if you just want to participate in Mountain Spirit events (or just enjoy the music, and hike/run the trails), a Mountain Spirit pass is the pass to buy as it includes everything except all things “biking”. All Mountain Spirit sessions have prize give-aways from the sponsors as well.

Industry Expo

Various industry types, from bike manufacturers to local retailers will be on hand to answer questions, ride with you, and otherwise make it an incredible experience. The list of Expo exhibitors will be updated on an ongoing basis. …And much more!

FAQ

I’m a vendor, can I attend?

Of course! The more the merrier, please contact us at info@velomsm.com for details about our vendor package.

Do Velo MSM members get a discount?

Yes Velo members get a coupon code for 20% off the registration cost of the festival.

What are the registration hours?

See schedule.

What if I come to ride but don’t want to pay?

Don’t do it. Don’t be that guy. Seriously, we are a not-for-profit volunteer organization, and the trails are free every other weekend, although we do appreciate your donations. There is no excuse, this is the one time we ask you to pay.

Can I suggest a beer fondo event?

Yes. We are a group of volunteers, and we try as best we can to keep things fresh and fun, but as we operate as a collective, we welcome and in fact encourage ideas and contributions from all attendees.

Can I bring my dog?

We love dogs, but with a large number of people, we suggest leaving our fury friends at home.

Can I come just to listen to the music?

Yes you can, but we ask that you make a donation to Velo MSM. Remember that this is the main fundraiser for our not-for-profit organization.

Where is the camping?

The two most popular spots are down by the lake, and along the south edge of the main parking lot.

Can I buy tickets on site?

Absolutely! Walk up registrations are certainly welcome, but there are some benefits to registering online….

What are the chairlift hours?

The lifts run from 10AM – 4PM on Saturday and Sunday. The lifts may be unavailable should there be lightning in the area.

How much does it cost to demo bikes?

Nada. Although if you are making heavy use of retailers, please consider making a donation.

What brands are coming to the industry expo?

We update the list of logos on this page often. We try to have it represent who will be there, but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, sometimes some of the listed brands are not available.

Can I have my picture taken with Paul Cook?

We are shocked how often this request comes up, but yes you can! Just ask him, he is always amenable to fan requests.

Can I get a refund?

Mountain Fest is quite a large production and as a result we have a number of fixed costs that we are responsible for regardless of the number of participants that attend the event. As a result we do not offer refunds. To do so could jeopardize our ability to offer the event and the mountain biking trails as we operate on a net zero budget and do not have the means to fund losses.

Can I transfer my pass?

Yes, passes are transferable prior to the event. Please just let us know by Thursday July 20th at info@velomsm.com
